My computer will no longer run most of my programs including WORD, Quickbooks, etc. I get an error message that says: A required .DLL file, WINSPOOL.DRV was not found. I also get an error message on start up that says: Error loading powrprof.dll. One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.
Is there a way to reload these files somehow without having to reformat my drive?
Thanks!!

you can just reinstall your windows. It shouldn't mess your existing program. rename your win.com to win.old and just install over

You might want to look at this. It will save re-installing your Operating System.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=265371

What it basically says is:
Now, that basically says to go to Start >> Run >> and type msconfig and click Ok. Look for the "Extract File" button and click it.

Where it says "Replace file from" put EITHER.

c:\windows\options\install

or

c:\windows\options\cabs

And In "restore file to" put:

c:\windows\system

Try that first
