Help MultiMdeia Gone!!

My company has just gave out new machines to the workers and I noticed I can't play sounds so I went to MultiMedia Under the ControlPanl and its all grayed out with the sound card not slected for the preffered device. I checked to see if the sound card was installed under the device manager and saw it was. I also ran System Information to see under components if it was installed I got the following:

Now its wierd its like the sound card is installed but it isn't... whats going on is there a fix? Every one else without the new ghosting is running sound its driving me nuts! I kinda want sound so I can listen to music whislt I work like the other ants but IT guys thought it'd be funny to cut one of the ant's ears off!!! An not the IT guys don't care they just look at me and grin an evil grin and say "Oh really? I didn't know we did that oh well you'll be fine... <snicker snicker> " Someout there help!!! For the love of anyone who sits in a cubicle all day and listens to insistent customers all day HELP!!
