Is there anyway to have my laptop lock automatically (like the way Windows Key + L does) when I close my laptop?

I know i can always press windows key + L, but I would rather have close it, and forget about it protection.

Under Control Panel-> Power Options-> Advance-> I can choose to standby when i close my laptop, and prompt for password when coming off standby BUT! standby disconnects my wireless internet connections, and if i'm downloading something it will stop it.

I'm thinking isn't there somewhere in the registry that I could change that at?

Note: I don't wanna use screen saver or standby to achieve this

I'd think the first thing that would have to be done is disable the switch that the lid activates/de-activates when it's closed. On some models the switch can either turn it off or put it to sleep.

Yes this perfectly achievable however it's finding the appropriate power management settings or program to do it.

Your looking for a program or setting which will allow you to run a command when you close the lid, I'm not sure on what one would be best as I don't know what laptop you have, maybe someone else will be able to help. The lock workstation command is: rundll32 user32.dll LockWorkStation

I have a dell inspiron, a newer version. It has two button one at the top near where the monitor will push it close (hit that and the monitor turns off), and one where it latches on to. it pushes that close.
