First off, help apprecited.
I configured a PC with WIN 98 for dial up using manual setting in Win98. The problem I have is the dial up window appears now every time I reboot. If I click the box "dial automatically" it does, but on every reboot. Before, it would dial when I clicked on and opened a browser or mail program, which was nice. I get on line fine, but the windows drive me nuts. I tired all options, Dial Default connection etc. Help anyone?

Normally if your computer is dialing the internet, it is because some program is asking for internet access. This could be an auto-update portion of a program you use, or a messenger. Even something simple like a weather bug type program will ask for internet. If you have it set to dial upon request, then it will attempt to dial every time there is a request.

If you check your programs and you dont find a problem, I would suggest downloading the latest Spybot Search & Destroy from their website at http://www.spybot.info and running a scan with that. Maybe you have some sort of spyware or adware that is requesting internet access.

If none of that works, you can download and run HijackThis! and post a hijack log here for someone to look at.

Good Luck
