Hello,
I think Microsoft disabled the editing option in IE when surfing the Internet, because my Frontpage icon also has disappeared. The edit option is grey in Internet explorer on line.
It all returns when I open the webpages off line.
Is there a method to enable this option again on line?
Thank you,
Archy Klinkert

The Edit icon on this Winguides page is greyed out.
If I go to <a target="_blank" href=http://www.google.com/>http://www.google.com/</a> it is not greyed out.

Is the same true for you?
I suspect so.

It depends on the site you are on.
Even your own webpage will block the edit option unless you are logged into the webpage administration screen.

Although the Google page is editable of course you can not save the page as such except to your own hard drive.

You wouldn't want myself to have the ability to edit your page.

Archie,

Further to the above go to IE Tools, Internet Options, Programs tab and check to make sure that a program is selected in the box for "HTML Editor".

Thank you for your suggestions.
I checked and saw that Frontpage is the html editor.
What I tried yesterday was:
I went to configuration, software, IE and clicked. In XP you have a choice between, repair or Install a previous version. I chose the previous installation. Well, even that did not help. All stayed the same, so I did a system recovery. I also used 'Registry Mechanic', but all in vain, isn't that strange?

Try switching the HTML editor to Notepad, check to see if it is no longer greyed out on the Google page.
Then switch it back to FrontPage.
