Hi! all
The more I get into the Windows XP Register the more I see it is just as much screwed up as windows 98 SE...
One thing I have noticed is if you never have signed in as Admin it is to late to try it later when you have an issue cause you get the Default User setting and they may not work any more anyway
cause things have changed,,
But any way lets put that on the side cause my question is there a legal way to setup the register to log you in on the default users profile.. IN windows 98SE if you hit the cancel key on the login screen it put you the Default User profile..
In windows xp they have a guest account but that is a limited profile and not the Default User profile..
Here is what I did to get to the Default User profile
but I don't know if that is legal and how much havoc it will creat...
I setup a extra account/profile then I change the ProfileImagePath in the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
for that account to the default user account
and bingo I was in
So is this OK or is there a better way...
And one more thing about the Default user account once you start you computer up and start using it the Default account is uesless cause most program don't update the default profile let alone all users,,,
One Other reason I'm asking is I want to setup XP from a Unattended Installations CD but log in on the default user desktop then load all software then make a user account after I'm done with all program installs... I did it that way on windows 98SE and it prevented allot of issue down the road..
and yes I know about the unattended GUI-mode setup t-13 and t-12 time line where it installs stuff to the default desktop but some programs just don't have the silent install or are to complex to run from that timeline spot...
My bed time so I'll check back later...
Thanks
Mac!!!
