Recently, my computer was highjacked by incredifind. I found instructions to manually get rid of it but now I can't seem to log on to the internet through Internet Explorer (Although I can do it through MSN Messenger, Outlook,..) Computer diagnostics tell me I am not connected to the internet and That I cannot ping. Any ideas on what the problem is? Any help is greatlly appreciated!

Have you tried resetting IE's web settings? (Internet Options > Programs)

Yes, I reset IE's web settings but that didn't help. I even tried reinstalling IE with a fresh copy but I still can't connect using IE. Thanks for the help though.

hi Friends ,
I have the same trouble , but a little bit different where I can access the internet but pages ( websites can't be shown or opened .. I'm using windows Me ... If I wanted to show pages , I'd have to disconnect the internet and then reconnect once again ... Aww , that's really boring ..

Try ping from command line to this site:

ipconfig /flushdns
ping 65.61.180.80
ping www.winguides.com

What response in these 3 cases?

Also check your hosts file. I have seen numerous occassions where software has messed with it rendering the network/internet useless to them.
c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts open that file in notepad, ignore everything with a # in front of it and make sure that the only entry you have is:
127.0.0.1 localhost

if you have more, backup the file first before removing them and then try your internet again.

Regards,

Chris

..if it ain't broke, I'm determined to fix it..
