Does anyone know if there is a way to confirm that someone has downloaded the latest windowsupdate patches over a network (perhaps even internet)? Reason is this: I work for a University, and last year we were completely flooded with viruses at the start of the school year. Since many viruses can be prevented if people update windows, we would like to have them goto a site, run this script to check if windowsupdate was run recently, send the results to a server and then we could enable their port to the whole campus (vs. just this site we setup) Thanks in advance for any feedback.

If there's a Win2003 server, you could deploy <a target="_blank" href=http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A7AA96E4-6E41-4F54-972C-AE66A4E4BF6C&displaylang=en>SUS</a>...

The servers are either NetWare or Sun, no Windows servers.
Hypothetically if we were to setup a temp Win2k3 server, would we have to change their settings to point to the temp server? Or would it be possible to just look at the server for what the current updates are and compare with what is on their system? Once we verify they have all the updates, let the client PCs look to the online windows update site and take the server down?
