After trying to install my funky new intelli-mouse I discovered that the usb-port didn't work! No drivers in win95 so then I searched internet, and lucky me found some... after installing and restarting and trying things out for a while (It still didn't work) and after restarting againI got a message about a vmm32.vxd which was missing or broken, after that that computer showed the close down screen ˙ou can savely shut off your computer now!!! arrrgghhh A perpetual circle was born. I tried to do everything but nothing works..
I don't understand why there is no application under dos to remove this failure from my registery! I know regclean and I found another bunch of files at softseek but nothing for dos!
Regedit is a complete mistery for me, please help me. I am about to throw my computer out of the window!! Thanks!!!

What version of 95 do you have? You need the USB Supplement in OSR2.1 and OSR2.5

Vmm32.vxd errors are tough. VMM32.vxd is different for every machine; therefore, if it gets corrupted, it cannot be copied from another computer; it'll need to be rebuilt.

You may have to re-install Win95 over top of itself.

Still having the same ol'problem I copied the original vmm32.vxd from the win95 cd (dutch version r2) to the \windows\system then to \windows\system\vmm32 directory but still the same message apperars. Want to install win 98 now but I cannot do this.... I don't have a dos-driver for my philips cd-rom drive, it's not even on the start-up cdrom and philips doesn't have a dos D under their download section, the MF'rs. I send them an e-mail but no reply yet!!! Throwing the compu in my dishwasher comes closer and closer...Time is ticking, and I deadly need my Computer.

I have heard of this problem with the usb drivers for Win95. I think you will need to reinstall windows or install Win98 to get it working again. The only other fix is to copy that backup of vmm32.vxd which MS should warn you to take before you install the supplement. ;>

What sort of CD-ROM drive do you have? Someone else might have drivers for it. Have you tried http://www.driverzone.com/?
