Hi,
I noticed a new application listed in my McAfee Personal Firewall Internet Applications list:
Windows Installer
full path:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msiexec.exe.
When I try to open it I get:
WINDOWS INSTALLER
Incorrect command line parameters.
Windows Installer V2.00.2600
copyright 2000 Microsoft Corp
It has not asked for internet access, but I blocked it full access anyway, since i didn't know what it was. Did a search (google), found it is used to install new programs that use MSI.
Did install Microsoft Updates a few weeks ago, as well as Earthlink Total Access and McAfee updates. Everything seems to be working ok since I blocked it. Virus scan negative, no adware or spyware, etc.
So, should I give it full access to the Internet or leave it blocked??!!
Thanks, Kathy
