Using 98SE and connecting a till draw opener to serial port - When signal trips port the device is not found and retry sends the signal to open and it stays open.... however if I use an earlier version of 98SE the port behaves as it should ... with no retry and the com triggers perfectly and resets ... My question is - where can I change the behaviour of the the port in windows 98SE ..... and why the difference between versions ?

You can't actually change the behavior of a port, and I can't understand what you're saying too well, but you might try making sure the software is updated and the hardware supports the newer version of Windows.
