Someone sold me a used computer.I purchased a copy of Registry Mechanic.When I downloaded it there was someone elses name on it.I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the same name is registered on it.I cannot insert my own name and licence on it.Can anyone advise me?

Have you confirmed the name is not on the Operating System itself? Do a Find in Regedit for the name you are seeing. Generally downloads don't get returned and CD-ROMs can't be written to again.

I think someone has been file sharing as eMule was also in applications. Also I didnt get a CD it was a direct download from winGuides.

Yeah, I saw the download part but got carried away with including General information for others to read. I do that frequently.

It's probably picking up the registered owner info that was entered into the reg when windows was installed. Change that to your name and it should fix it for you.

PC performance buffs have long measured hardware advances using a few simple metrics: Is it faster? Is it bigger? Does it have more blinky lights?
