I forgot my adminstration password for windows 98 and I am not sure how to fix issue. I deleted pwl files with my name but that did not correct the issue It removed the change password option. There are still the default pwl files and my name still shows up on bootup How do I fix this and get my password blank again so I can set up myself up as one user with a new password I am a registered owner with microsoft.

Are you a member of a network? Do you have "Profiles" enabled?

To avoid the Logon window do:
1.-Go to Control panel-->Network
2.-Make sure is set to "Windows logon" (Accept the changes -if any- and DO NOT reboot)
3.-Startup button-->Run-->type sysedit-->in system.ini window, go down to the [Passwords] section and put a ; (semicolon) before each line in that section
4.-Delete (or change the extension to) *.PWL files in your Windows folder
5.-Restart Windows, it will show you the Logon window again, in the Username write anything you want and leave the Password field blank, click OK twice, and that's it, you'll never be prompted for logon again...
