hello dudes,

i'm getting this error message whenever i startup my OS: Cannot find the file 'C:\WINNT\system32\System32.exe' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.

please help me to get rid of it, it's really annoying.

thanks

That sounds like a virus. Your antivirus probably removed the virus inself and left its hook in your startup. Goto the HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run key and look for that system32.exe startup and delete it.

According to a Google search, the SYSTEM32.EXE file is also referenced from the [boot] section of the Windows system.ini file (people don't look there very often since the registry was invented).

The actual program is a key-stroke logger that collects passwords, credit card numbers, etc. and emails them to the virus writer.
