Hi, I am trying to share an adsl connection via a windows 2000 machine and am recieving an error message when enabling internet connection sharing.

Error 783: Internet Connection Sharing cannot be enabled. The LAN connection selected as the private network is either not present, or is disconnected from the network. Please ensure that the LAN adapter is connected before enabling Internet Connection Sharing.

This is microsofts solution:

CAUSE
This problem can occur if the Internet Protocol (IP) address 192.168.0.1 is already in use on another computer on your network. When you enable ICS, your computer is assigned the 192.168.0.1 IP address, and if this address is already in use on another computer, the error message listed earlier in this article is generated.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, disconnect the computer using the 192.168.0.1 IP address from the network, or change its IP address to something other than 192.168.0.1.

The problem is, I havn't actually setup a network yet, so there isn't a single pc already using that I.P Address. The only item with an ip of that discription is the computer's NIC card which is only assigned that i.p when I try to enable ICS even after it fails with the above error message. I have tried removing the i.p address from the NIC card and even also manually setting the I.P of that card, but every time I try to enable ICS again, the same I.P is forced into the NIC's settings.

Any Ideas?
