freezing up (W98)

My computer keeps freezing up...it does it all the time...at start up...when I am composing email...surfing the web...when it is idle....etc. I know nothing about computers so I have no idea what the technical term for this is or even where I should post this message. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....Belle

hi,

since ur problem is not specific do the following.

defragment ur hard disk
check for any adwares
check for viri
