I have in place on my firewall the ability to block all streaming music from the internet. I have also blocked all ports used for streaming video.

The fun part comes when the administration tells me they dont want students to be able to bring in CDs to listen to. I need to find a way to tell Media Player or Windows in general not to play audio CD's without completely disabling access to the CD drive.

Any ideas?

How about you share the cd drive, and set it so only an administrator has access to it? This should work IF students don't need any access to the drive whatsoever

I thought about that, but there are some programs that the teachers use that require a cd to run so that wont work. I just need to disable/uninstall all ability to play an audio cd.

Any other suggestions?

I have found some new group policy restrictions on our upgraded 2k3 AD servers. These restrictions can make WMP use the proxy 127.0.0.1 which will completely stop all streaming music, but then I still have the problem with CD's.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!
