My PC has become really noisy recently. I have an Intel P4 2GHZ, DDR Ram 768Mb, 40Gb Hard Drive.

if it gets noiser when you run defrag then most likely it is your harddrive. this is a sign that the hard drive is gonna go south...

i don't complain. i just tweak until my arms
fall off.... tweakability is the code name of windows.
if it 1st down work. tweak it out until it does.

You need to describe the noise. It could easily be a fan whose bearings are going. Pop off the side of the case and look inside - see if you can hear where the noise is coming from. Test it by sticking your finger (gasp! I know - but do it anyway) in there and stopping the fan - BUT ONLY FOR A SPLIT SECOND. If the noise stops, you found it! If the noise is coming from the power supply, it can be replaced but you should just take the hit and get a new PS.
