I've been using win98 for years, and I have many files I would like to have available to me after installing Win2000. I would like to change to NTFS.

My plans were to back up the files I want to keep to a second harddrive (with Fat32) and then start my installation of Win2000 on a clean hd, using the NTFS system...

My question...

Will I be able to access all of my files on the second HD?
&
Will I have to convert the entire second HD to NTFS before being able to access them?

I would like to be able to keep all those files in FAT32 format in case I feel like going back to Win98 someday in the future.

Thanks for your help,

as soon as I get answers to these questions I'll be ready to begin the PROCESS...

Kris

Win2000 can work with any/all drives/partitions formatted as either NTFS or FAT32 in the same computer. Keeping your second drive as FAT32 will be no problem, just won't have the same file security NTFS provides.
