If you are using pirated copy of XP you will need to purchase a non-pirated copy.

I installed using the hacked Service Pack 1 which means I first had to change my product id using a tool which I downloaded from the internet ( I dont remember its name ). Thus, SP1 worked good for me on my pirated one. SP2 is still in beta stage so i havent tried that yet. But there are solutions to install it on a pirated copy of XP.
And yes, You have to reinstall XP
Take Care :)
