sound & printer problem? (W2K)

Although, all my sound levels are normal and enabled, for some reason, I am unable to hear anything? I tried using headphones instead of the speakers, and still no sound? Any idea what the problem may be? Also, I have installed my printer which was working fine...suddenly I received a message that states "There was an error found when printing the document Microsoft Word doc. to LPT 1: The device is not connected? Any idea what the problem may be? All the cables are connected properly.

Try reinstalling sound driver.

Printers are more difficult to reinstall just the driver, so you have to uninstall all printer software files (sometimes even in registry), reboot then reinstall software/driver.
