Hi Yall,
I just resently built my first comp. Athalon 1800 256 meg ram 40 gig hd and a soyo mb.(not my main comp). It worked fine with word processor progs and networking to my other comp. Games and cd burn crashed it consitantly. One day it froze on the screen saver. After that it took a couple of hours just to boot up. I've sence re-formated (with seagate hd utility cd, as win2k cd took almost 2 days to get to 6% fomat). Finally got win2k reinstalled and now It takes more than a couple of hours just to get the Win2k splash. Needless to say I'm pretty bummed out. What the hell is up with this thing!? Sorry for the novel any suggestions?

Hmm...are you sure the disk is in good condition? Perhaps it is failing.

You should do a memorycheck, maybe there's something wrong with your ram's. If so, you'll have to replace them.

This might be anything from a hardware failure to a wrong jumper setting. Start with checking the cables and make sure the master slave settings are not on cable select. If that wont help it comes down to testing the parts seperate. Best bet would be to exchange with parts from a pc that operates fine.
