desktop locked

i am using windows 2000 and the ability to add desktop wallpaper has been locked
anyone know how to unlock this?

Are you logged into the computer as the administrator, or with another username? It sounds to me like you'll need to log in as the administrator (or someone with equal rights), go into "Control Panel / Users and Passwords" and change the Group Membership for your username to "Administrators". That will give you full rights to change your wallpaper, and anything else for that matter....
