Hi,

I have following problem with my Win 2K Professional - when I log in after a few minutes my browser (IE or Mozilla) crushes. The browser gets terminated and when I restart it, it keeps crushing. If I shut down the system and restart it, the problem with the browser repeats. But if I reset the system by reset button and restart it - the browser works fine. I installed absoulutely all system and browser updates. I also changed the antivirus and firewall software - it didn't help.

It probably has something to do with the hardware because I had Win XP on the same machine before and had the same problem. I had to change the hard disc and installed Win 2K Professional this time, but the same problem still exists.

PC configuration:
CPU: Pentium 4 2GHz
Motherboard: Asus SIS648 Chipset, model P4S8X
HDD: Maxtor 120 GB
Graphics card: Gigabyte Maya II (ATI Radeoon 9000 Pro)
Memory: 512 MB Samsung

Could anybody help me with this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Ivo

Just a guess, but maybe you have some bad memory? I would recommend that you go to www.ultimatebootcd.com and download the utility CD they have there. Boot off of it and run a memory test. If you only want to download the memory test, go to www.memtest86.com and get it there. I highly recommend the aforementioned, as it has hard drive diagnostics, antivirus scanners, etc. - quite an invaluable tool for any computer user....
