File Sharing default using XP Pro (WXP-Pro)

I have a work laptop and I noticed that everytime I bootup the file Sharing option by default is Share this folder C$. I can't change it permantently cause I need administrative privilages. I can remove the share option while after I am powered up but everytime I reboot it goes back to the default. Is this so my network people can look at what I have on my hard drive? I would like to not share my laptop unknowingly with anyone. Can I turn this file sharing off permanently somehow without alerting anyone?

It depends how you have your network set-up. But I'm guessing you have either domain admins on yout machine in which case remove it and also you might have domain users or some other user group on your machine, in which case remove it. Buit bare in mind if you have any network apps which use these accounts I.E anti virus, SUS etc they will no longer work if you remove these accounts.
