Locked my programmes out now I want them back! (WXP-Pro)

I locked everythig down except for 'word' on my sons stand alone laptop (so he could use in his school exams) using the group policy editor. Now I find I can't undo it, as it will not run pgedit - it will only run 'word' suprise! suprise! But I find I can run regedit from the command prompt in safe mode.
Is there a way of switching the group policy off from the registry and if so how? your help please

In the registry delete the policies key:
HKCU\Software\Policies

In future you may want to think about setting restrictions through applications like Systems Policy Editor, as you can then specify which accounts the restrictions apply to. Group Policy applies to all accounts.
