Hi all, PLEASE HELP!
Currently all of our W2k users are members of the power users group, as we try to limit their software installs to items that don't alter the system all that much. This works great, but it does not allow them to install WINDOWS UPDATES!!! How can I give powerusers this ability?

Hi,
I have added those users as Power Users but it
s restrict alot of things, could not do defragmentation, unable to install softwares for some programs so I have no choice but to add them back to Administrator group. This is definitely not a good idea and I hate the power that they could manipulate the computer to add local users and amend passwords and install alot of junk softwares. Hope someone has solution for this.

Can't you set the updates to download automatically under administrator credentials, thus there being no need for anybody other than administrators to install updates.

Microsoft offer a software updates package which is available to download from their website. There is also Systems Management Server.
