I'm running a PII at 333Mhz, and as if thats not bad enough, I'm getting about twenty second long delays from time to time when i try to open programs, or change web pages(software controlled modem). Anyone know of any tips to fix this?(apart from a new pc). I'm a fairly experienced computer geek so don't worry about anything being "too technical".
thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, I've got 256mb of ram and it wasnt doing this until about a month ago... I haven't downloaded anything since. I also run maintanance programs weekly.

If you're CPU is that old, I think age has taken it's toll and your PC is on deaths door. Sorry

you may have not installed anything, but there maybe some background application that may running that could cause this... first check to see if you contracted some sorta virus, spyware, or adware. if still same problem try reinstalling all drivers. run scandisk to make sure no bad spots. run som registry cleaning program.

i don't complain. i just tweak until my arms
fall off.... tweakability is the code name of windows.
if it 1st down work. tweak it out until it does.
