View Full Version : Lost File Menu in Windows Explorer (W2K)

Hi,

Yesterday I opened Windows Explorer to find that the file menu had disappeared.

I have tried everything I can think of to restore it. I have found several mentions of the registry key "NoFileMenu" which can be set to 1 to suppress the file menu for security. However, all instances of NoFileMenu in my registry are already set to 0.

Does anyone have a clue what's going on here?

Thanks.

ps Apologies if this is in the wrong forum. Mod please move it if you feel it appropriate. Thanks.
Edited by lowbatt65 on 05/11/04 03:02.

Have you tried clicking on Folders on the Windows Explorer tool bar?

Hi Tom,

There is no toolbar! Not only that, there isn't a file menu either.

I'm starting to get concerned as I've looked through the registry, and I've even edited my Windows Explorer preferences in gpedit.exe, and still nothing makes any difference.

Any thoughts?

Dewi

Does W2K have a repair install option that doesn't take out your settings and programs? If so, that might be the next step to consider.
