How do you edit the registry to allow programs installed on the computer that require the CD-ROM to be in the CD drive to start without having the CD-ROM in the CD drive?

The makers intentionally require the CD be inserted to prevent you from making unlicensed copies or using the product by more than one person at a time.

So, there is no setting in the registry to workaround this situation.

But, have a look at Circle Virtual CD™ as it may suite your needs and is free.

Check the compatibility list for the CD in question.

I have never tried it because I am on Win98SE and this product is for Win2K and WinXP.

Also, try other virtual CD software, such as Daemon Tools (One of the best). Point your virtual CD drive to almost any image file (ISO, BIN, etc) and the virtual drive will react as if your burned that image to a disk and inserted it. Also works for DVD ISOs.
