Possible virus? Or just general screw-up. (W2K)

I'm helping my neighbor/friend set up a computer in his garage. It's running Windows 2000, but heres the problem-right after it says Windows 2000. with the blue bars filling up, it goes to the blue screen, saying the boot source cannot be accessed. We tried everything-safe, safe/comman, floppy, but we still get it. The thing I really need to know is if there is a way to format the harddrive, without access to the OS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to boot from the W2K CD and follow the paths to format and clean install.

I knew that, I just don't have the Win2k cd, thus I cannot boot from it. Once I get it, I'll be fine. Thanks for the help anyways though.
