I am having difficulties setting up a peer to peer wireless network between my laptop and my desktop.

The connection between the two computers appears to be set up and working correctly as a peer to peer (adhoc) connection. I get a "connected" status report with a speed of 11 Mbps on both computers.

However, despite having used the "set up a small office or home network" wizard on both machines (XP professional), the connection will either not show the shared workgroup on both machines, or if it does, the workgroup is empty, despite having set up file sharing and shared several folders.

What do I have to do to ensure that I can share files between the two computers (I do not wish to share the Internet connection)?

Open Network Connections (Control Panel), select Properties on the General Tab and check to see that you have "Files and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" enabled.

You may also want to install the Netbeui protocol and turn off XPs simple file sharing. Netbeui is on the XP cd under extras (I think).
