SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!

alrite heres what happened... i reinstalled windows on my machine due to a virus, but kept my user information folder listed under C:/Documents and Settings/Marc (Marc is my name, hance the name of the old user account i had).
After the reinstall... my folders were there, but i was unable to gain access to them, or login as Marc. I changed the logon screen to classic where you type in the user name and password rather than click on the picture. I typed in Marc and my normal password and it said either something was wrong with my account or I typed my password wrong. The folder is listed under documents and settings, but i cannot access it unless i am logged on as that user, which i am unable to do. I tryed creating a new account with the name Marc, but it just creates a seperate folder. Can someone please tell me how i can acccess my folder!?!?! or how i can logon as that past user.

First of all, you may not be able to logon using that PARTICULAR account any more, but you SHOULD be able to get your data back, if it was not encrypted.

NOTE: This procedure is explained with XP Pro and SHOULD work with XP Home, but differences in the user interface between the XP versions may make it more difficult.

First, log in as Administrator. Next, open an Explorer window and expand the C: drive and the "Documents and Settings" folder in the folder tree. Right-click on your old profile folder and choose properties. Click on the security tab. Click on the Advanced button. Here is where we make changes.

First click on the "Owner" tab, choose Administrator from the box, check the box below about sub-objects, and hit apply. Note: This can only be done by Administrators, and must be done as only Administrators and Owners can set permissions.

Second, click back to the permissions tab and click Add. In the new box, type the username you want new permissions for (In your case, either "Everyone" or your new login name) and hit OK. On the permissions box, hit the check box under "allow" for full control, and all the other "allow" boxes will be checked as well. Make sure up top says to apply to this folder, subfolders, and files, then hit OK. Your new user and permissions will appear in the listbox. Hit OK twice more to leave these boxes and voila! You can now access your old files.
