When I install WinXp I always Set my cd drive to Q: and my cdrw to R:, but when I make an image and clone another machine, it always sets the cd letters to the first available logical drives. Does anyone know of a script or something with wmi to change CD drive letters?

Thanks

I am not sure if this will help you. Im do a little scripting but if you are familier you should have no problems working with this. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wmisdk/wmi/win32_volume.asp

Thanks for the suggestion but the Win32_Volume requires Windows Server 2003.

In Win98 and below I could set the CD drive letter in autoexec with the mscdex /L:[Drive Letter].

Does anyone know how to change volume letters with XP?

msearly,
I am having the same problem. The Win32_Volume would have worked perfectly if it wasn't for 2003 only. Please let me know if you find something
