I have 2 ram banks on my mobo, one with a 512 ddram stick and one with a 256 ddram stick.
However, my ram is actually registering as only 624mb. (as opposed to around 750)
Is this correct or could there be a problem?
Thank you.

Maybe you used a 128mB ddr ram instead of a 256mB ddr ram. You can verify this in your BIOS or with a hardwaremonitor like AIDA. I hope this will answer your question.

No, it says 256mB, DDR, 266mhz quite clearly on the stick.
Thanks.

Maybe your video card is stealing a bunch. The "shared memory" video cards will directly subtract from your total RAM.

I dont know, but I blue screened twice with it installed. Ive had to remove it.
Not sure what to do now? Should i try and reinstall it or could it be a bios setting maybe thats causing my problems.
ps: my video and sound are both onboard.

Thank you for any help.

Some motherboards require that you use identical sticks of DDR Ram. Double check (no pun intended) your mobo specs. /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

The first batch of Pentium-4 we got at work a few years ago had DDRam... Those will not even boot if the pairs do not match. The Dell website indicates that all of its computers that use DDR have to have matching pairs.
