I've just now found time to write but I've been getting these two unrepairable errors for more than a month.

I had uninstalled MS's OneCareLive & Malware Protection but it appears there's remanants left.

When I try to delete the keys via regedit Microsoft > Malware Protection, I get, "Error deleting key."

There are no programs in My Programs folder named /OneCareLive or Malware Protection, not even hidden.

DEEP - 4
Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MalwareProte ction
Value : InstallDir = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows OneCare Live\Antivirus\
Parsed : c:\program files\microsoft windows onecare live\antivirus

DEEP - 5

Value : DataArchive = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows OneCare Live\Antivirus\{ca2f1194-f139-4d8f-a16c-22e8bbe1bb63}
Parsed : c:\program files\microsoft windows onecare live\antivirus\{ca2f1194-f139-4d8f-a16c-22e8bbe1bb63}

Tip please,

Thanks,

Kerry

hmm... it appear that MS's OneCareLive & Malware Protection still have some active entries in your computer, that is why you cant delete it. This normally happen to some virus/spyware protection program where it wont completely remove its files or registry entries.

if its not causing your computer any problem then i dont see why you want to remove it since its not allowing you to do so.!!

Thanks XPLOSV,

I'm hoping some techie knows how to remove it. It appears daily when I run Registry Machanic. Aside from not being right, it's a pain.

Here is a link to a page I found on another forum which describes how to remove these two keys:

uninstall One Care?? (http://www.spywarepoint.com/uninstall-one-care-t27101.html)

You can also search Microsoft's site for their One Care Removal Tool since the link provided in the linked page above doesn't work.

Those registry keys may have permissions set to not delete as well. You might try right clicking on the individual keys, click permissions and allow all.
You should be able to delete the key right there.
