View Full Version : Is it possible to boot computer from internet? (WXP-Pro)

I have ASUS P4P800 motherboard with an integrated LAN card. I want to find out if it is possible to turn on computer from internet or network. Thanks.

first of all you need to have wake-on-lan function for your on-board nic. It should be listed in the bios of your motherboard, it will have a place in there to disable and enable the wake on lan function. After that and it turns out that you do have WOL function for your nic you then need software to do your wake over the intranet, sometimes you need specific software for specific hardware. Also I do not believe you can do this over the intERnet only on an intRAnet, meaning only on your local network.

thank you, ill do a search for software you're talking about, and yes I do have wake on lan function in bios.

Dont forget the little 3 wire cable connected from the nic to the mobo.
