I am using an Asus P3B-F. This motherboard allows one to assign IRQ's to PCI slots in the BIOS, which I have done because of IRQ conflicts I have had in the past.
I had disabled Serial Port 2 and the LPT port. My Printer is now USB. I have a device on Serial Port 1. The disabled serial port used IRQ 3, which is now occupied by my network card and my SCSI host adapter. I now would like to add a device that requires a serial port. I looked in the BIOS, & one option is to assign the Serial Port 2 to IRQ 10. Right now, IRQ 10 has my video card, Matrox G400 on it. I can send the Matrox G400 to IRQ 7, which is open since the LPT port is disabled (the options for the Serial Port 2 do not include IRQ 7. Doing that allows the Serial port 2 to go to IRQ 10.
My question: Will my video card Matrox G400 work on IRQ 7?
Thanks
