New MB (Epox 8RDA) with Athlon 2600+ and 512 Mb ram, existing videocard (Asus 7100 Combo deluxe). Reinstalled Win98 for the new drivers that came with this MB. Everything works fine, except video movie. Tried 3 different players, without result, not even in lowest resolution. Frames seems to come in smooth for 1 sec, then freezes, and so on. Installed Win XP, the same result. Strange too: when I connect television on the videocard, it works fine. The same videocard on my old PIII 800 Mhz ->no problems. What could be wrong?
Many thanks

Sounds like a nice system. Is the ASUS based on the nVidia chipset? If so, make sure you have the latest drivers for the card...download from the website. Also make sure that the AMD/AGP patch is installed on the system. This should have been done with the mobo chipset drivers...but who knows!
What kind of movie are you attempting to view? Is it a dvd or off of the internet? If it is off of the internet, try finding the latest codecs for the media player. Try:
divx.com
search google for xvid
search google for On2 technologies
Good Luck.
PS: is the video card actively cooled or does it just have a heatsink?
