media player 9 (W98)

I use windows 98 (second edition) operating system.I upgraded my media player to media player 9. When I download some wmv's off this one site, the audio plays fine but the picture just flicks by in stages.This happens with only certain downloads but others off the same site are fine.
Could someone tell me is it the fault of the website or my media player?

I only downloaded the media player 9 for windows 98 a week ago.It seems to be an updated version.

Yep, tried that too. My media player is fully updated.
It's just so frustrating,The site has loads to download. The audio is fine,the picture just flicks by in stages. Even when I download the full clip and play it back later.
Any other suggestions?

go back to media player 7. I would not upgrade to 9 if I don't have to. Sometimes the upgrade only make things worse. My personal experience anyway
