I have a WinXP Pro machine and a Win98 machine. They are connected through a wireless cable/dsl router. Both machines can access the Internet and I can ping both machines from each other. On the XP machine, I can see the shared folders that I have shared on the 98 machine and access them fine. The problem is that from the 98 machine, I open up network neighborhood and the flashlight looks at the folder and that's it. I let it sit for an hour and it never shows the XP machine and it's shares. ctrl+alt+del doesn't crash it out... I have to shut the computer off and turn it back on. I think I have XP's firewall shut off, how do I check to make sure? Any suggestions? Help?

XP Firewall settings can be found by going to XP network connections, then right click the network connection (may be labeled Local Area Connection) then left click Properties. Go to the Advanced tab to see if Firewall is checked. Also note, XP is different than past Windows. XP Pro is built for Domain usage and XP Home can only be used in Workgroup. You may need to specifically share from XP Pro to allow the 98 PC proper access. Hope this helps
