I had a working network using Win 98SE cable connected to a WLAN router which connected via cable to the internet. The wireless computers were a WinXPpro, a WinME, and a Win 98. The AP was a Linksys. A storm knocked the AP out. I replaced with a DLink in the same configuration. It has been fairly easy to connect to the internet with all machines, but none of the computers can communicate. The WinXP knows the others are on the network, but connection is refused stating I do not have privileges to access. I have installed, reinstalled protocols, changed default protocols, used fixed IP numbers, ckecked workgroups, etc. I have searched forums on the internet for clues of what to do and have made every permutation I can find. I took the disk that the XPpro machine offers to make and ran on each of the other machines, but this made no difference. The XP pro machine does connect slightly differently to the internet. Previously, it required only the Wireless LAN icon to be showing, but now it appears that it bridges within itself to be able to connect to the internet so that two of the lan icons must show in the task bar for the internet connection. Without reinstalling the operating systems how should I proceed?
(I think the registry has settings that I can't change.)
Thanks,
David
