Active Desktop? (W98)

Is there anyway to turn off active desktop?My computer is really slow with a 2/300 processor.I have speeded it up quite a bit but active desktop slows it down.

You can try this:

Right click on desktop and select "active desktop - customize my desktop". Select the "web" tab and uncheck "view my active desktop as a web page". That should disable your active desktop.
