Hi all ,
Actually I'm in real trouble and looking for a help from those who are really professional in the registry world . In fact , I'd two operating systems , windows Millennium and windows XP home edition .. and of course you all know that there's an option at the startup that lets you choose between the two versions of windows .. I'd kept windows millennium on the drive [ C: ] and windows XP home edition on the drive [ E: ] ... I had to format the drive [ C: ] so as to re-install windows millennium once again ... After installation I got unable to access Windows XP .. In a word , the option that lets you choose one of the two versions of windows appearing at the startup was lost . Now , I'm unable to get access into windows XP again .. How can I fix this trouble ??? . How can I make that option appear again ??????
I'm gonna wait an answer from the registry masters soon .....
thanks in advance for your troubles and bye ....

Boot to your WinXP CD and select the Repair option. What you DID when you formatted was get rid of key boot files: boot.ini and bootsect.dos for two. Reinstalling WinME (or 9x) while XP (or any other NT based OS) is still installed rewrites the master boot record, effectively killing off any NT based OS's. WHY Microsoft fixed it this way is kinda stupid, but that's MS for ya/images/forums/icons/smile.gif

So, in actuality, it's not a registry issue. Running Repair from the XP CD will add it back into the MBR, thus letting you boot it again.

Kinda long winded, but that's what happened.
Hope this helps you,
Unknown

Boot with the XP CD and then select Recovery console... Once on the recovery console command prompt type:

fixboot

And then reboot
