I have over 5,000 e-mails in my Outlook Express Sent folder and would like to store them on a CD, for future reference, and clear out this folder. I am running Windows 98.
Can anyone tell me which folder to save on the CD, where to find it (C:\ ....) and how to access a particular e-mail from the CD when I need to see it?

The Folders you see in Outlook Express are actually files by the same name with the extension of .dbx. Look in C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Mail for the files. They would have to be Imported back into OE for use but I use DBXtract from <a target="_blank" href=http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx>http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx</a> to first extract the messages into a separate Folder and then manipulate/copy them as individuals.

Hi Bert, I checked my C:\window\microsoft\Application data and I don't see any folder for outlook express. I have two machines here at home and neither one of them has that folder. Where else could it be?

Sorry, try here:
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express
I forgot that machine is using Profiles.

Sorry Bert that was my error. I mistyped the message. It should have read C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft.
I don't see Outlook express in that folder.

That location could have been changed but do a Search for <font color=red>*.dbx</font color=red> to find where.

Ok, I found something in C:\windows\application data\identities\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\microsoft\ou tlook express. Are these the correct folders. I can't read them in wordpad.

I was working out of town since midday Monday.
The files *.dbx can't be read in most programs which makes the use of DBXtract [and any other such program] important in extracting individual messages.
Again, the Folders seen in Outlook Express are actually files by the same name with the extension of .dbx. Deleting a message or messages leaves a void spot in the file and Compacting the Folder makes the file smaller.
