i have a computer with windows 98 fe on it and I tried to install windows xp. it had some trouble copying some files durring the setup and now it thinks it can run xp. it crashes as soon as the xp loading screen finishes and gives me a blue screen that says:
"STOP: c000021a {fatal system error}
The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000080 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down."
i reall need to get this computer working again wether it is somehow getting windows xp on there or somehow getting 98 back on there. i still have my xp and 98fe cd's. what should i do?

If you don't have files on the disk that you have to recover, then the best thing to do would be to abandon the 98 installation and go with a clean new install of xp. Upgrades are full of problems, especially the 9x to NT-based upgrades.

If you do need to recover files then the best thing to do would be to put the drive in a working computer, move the files off the disk, and then abandon the 98 installation and go with a clean new install of xp.

In my opinion.

The Blue screen is usually related to incompatable hardware. Did you run the compatability tests?
If it passes the tests then go with Josh's suggestions.
