Very High CPU Processor Usage in Win 98
Hi
I have a VERY annoying problem i hope someone can help with.
I am running Win98 on a IBM Laptop, but no matter what I do
the system its is eating between 35 and 95% of the CPU's resources
- just being idle.
I am an IT person and have given it a very compete cleaup/optiomise
so its now a very CLEAN system ie.
- no Virus, Trojans, Worms AT ALL (latest NAV 2003 + Kasperskis + Moosoft + Tascan)
- no SpyWare (latest S&D Blaster & AdWare)
- All unecassary startup tasks are disabled (no AV or other resident stuff)
Using a Process viewer (YKill or Starter) I can see that its just Windows
Tasks/Processes that are are running. I have even unload Task Scheduleder
anmd Logitech mouse driver/util.
It starts off on fresh boot eating about 35% and then just creeps up.
The more I run the more it uses, up to 100%, and then does not come back
down when I finish the tasks. As I write this its 95% and very slow.
I am very frustrated!
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
