Hi guys

On my Office Pc, I have a fixed I.P along with fixed DNS and WINS Server settings for our class C domain.

My I.P is needed to Authenticate me through the proxy, aposed to a standard User I.D and Password.

The problem is in that I would like my DNS And WINS to be auto configured via DHCP, but for my I.P to somehow remain Fixed.

IS there a way via registry to force the use of a particular I.P, but also continue to auto configure DNS and WINS?

Any Ideas will be much appreciated!

Hi,
this can easily be done from the DHCP server. Open the DHCP from the Administrative Tools menu. First: locate your PC in Addresse Leases, in this view you will see different properties for your find the field called Unique ID (this is your pc's MAC addresse, which you will need later) and write it down. Second: go to Reservations, and add a new reservation. Fill in the IP addresse you want and enter the MAC addresse in the proper field and you're done.

Thank you my friend!

It worked a treat!

I may use this new found gift of knowledge on client pc's around the office, as I think there are users here that also require fixed ip's for one reason or another.
