Hi,

I would like to be able to see the clock, but not be able to click on it (from there, u can take the control of the whole computer).

If I disactivate the control panel, it works! Unfortunately I need it so I can acces my mouse properties!

Would you know any possibility?

Hi,
the only way I see is disable the taskbar clock and install Title Bar Clock (www.wfcravener.com/TBC.html). I know, it's more a workaround than a solution and I haven't tested it but maybe it meets your requirements.

Rename TIMEDATE.cpl to TIMEDATE.old

Nothing will happen when the clock is double clicked

Since I'm not sure what Windows you are using, the following text is for XP and 2000 only, and you have to be Local Administrator to make these changes.

I know you already have a solution but you might consider this as well:
You can manipulate Local Group Policy to reflect what type of user (local administrator, power user, just user...etc) can access system clock and make changes. To open local group policy go to run command and type: "gpedit.msc" without quotes and press ENTER, and you should get Local policy. These settings are basically registry hacks and security settings for all your local accounts. Finally to set the system clock access go to Computer Configuration\Windows settings\Security settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assigment and in there you will find "Change the system time" option that can specify what type of account can change the time.

There you go,

Good Luck!

Hi, I can't find where you change the name... could you tell me where to find it ?

I found that in XP this doesn't seem to work. I renamed every instance of datetime.cpl to datetime.old, including what I found in the /I386 directory. However, after right clicking on the clock, then selecting adjust date/time, Win automatically generated a new datetime.cpl. I would love to disable users from being able to modify this, yet not remove it.

I did see Hubasan's reply, and that seems like a good solution, however, I haven't tested it yet.
