I used System File Checker and moved a bunch of files to Windows Help Desk. I really messed up part of my registry, because I can't uninstall or properly install or run some programs, especially ICQ and ICQ Lite. Neither will run now, and I cannot uninstall them. When I try to run Icq Lite, I get an illegal operation message. Please help me get this straight!

Did you make the changes in the last day or two? There's 5 backups [5 days] of the Registry and frequently booting to a command mode and running scanreg /restore will give you a choice to go back to an earlier date.

Thank you for your reply. I tried scanreg/restore a few days after I messed it up, and it didn't fix it!
It all started when the computer was not running properly, and I discovered that one of my memory sticks was bad.
After replacing it, all was well except a few programs that I could repair, except Icq. There is something wrong or missing there, because when I try to uninstall it I get the illegal operation screen.
